Liverpool Comedy Festival 2009

3 to 10 May 2009

Liverpool Comedy Festival returns!
The Capital of Culture year may be over Liverpool Comedy Festival is back to bring laughter to the city once again for 2009.

With top names already secured The Comedy Trust are promising a Festival that is bigger and better than ever before. Andy Parsons, Rob Brydon, Al Murray, Ross Noble, Phil Nichol, Richard Herring, Reginald D Hunter and Jimmy Carr will all be performing at the Festival.

As well as big names there will be comic plays, such as Shirley Valentine (Royal Court Liverpool) and When We Are Married (Liverpool Playhouse), Comedy Workshops and stand up comedians from the national circuit. Old favourites like The Best of Liverpool and Drink Up Stand Up will also return for their eighth successive year so there will be something for everyone at this year’s Festival.

Gillian Miller, chair of The Comedy Trust said:

“ We have got a great line up already this year with more shows being confirmed all the time and we are looking to make 2009 the best yet. We couldn’t put together such a popular Festival without the support of our two media partners the Liverpool Echo and Radio City. We have also had great support from the Culture Company and Liverpool City Council every year since we began in 2002 and we hope that this will continue in 2009 and beyond.”

Anya O’Neil, from comedy promoters Just For Laughs Live, said:

“ We are delighted to be involved again this year by bringing Ross Noble to the Liverpool Empire. We have been bringing acts to the Liverpool Festival for the last 4 years and each time the whole Festival gets bigger and better. The Liverpool Comedy Festival has built up a great reputation and it looks like that will keep growing in 2009.”

The Liverpool Comedy Festival runs from 3rd to 10th May 2009.
