Strictly dance star Katya Virshilas shall be going to the Ball.
Strictly Come Dancing�s Katya Virshilas has been confirmed as the star dancer performing at Liverpool�s spectacular Spring Ball at St.George�s Hall.

Katya will be joined by her Danish professional dance partner Klaus Kongsdal in the Great Hall on Saturday 17th April 2010, Katya was last seen in BBC�s Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 with her celebrity dance partner Phil Tufnell and lasted until week 9 of the competition, performing their American Smooth. Klaus Kongsdal is no stranger to strictly fever too having taken part in Denmark�s �Dancing with the Stars�, the Danish version of the show.

Katya Virshilas said �We are extremely excited and honoured to be part of the Liverpool Spring Ball in the beautiful St. George�s Hall, It will be our first time in Liverpool but we heard some great things about it from Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe... to be dancing to a live band is just amazing.�

It�s not just Katya�s TV appearances in shows such as �Strictly Come Dancing�, and her long list of Ballroom dance championship trophies that has catapulted Katya into dance stardom, she is also a respected actor and has danced in many Hollywood box office hit movies, she starred in Take the Lead alongside Spanish movie star Antonio Banderas, critics have classed their hot and sexy tango scene in the movie as one of the all-time movie dance sequences. She also played alongside and trained Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Susan Sarandon to dance in the blockbuster ballroom dance movie Shall We Dance.

The St. George�s Hall Balls commissioned by Liverpool City Council have quickly become one of the most prestigious Ballroom dance events in the UK today; the upcoming Spring Ball will have all the attributes of the glittering events that took place in 2008/09 with a guest singer (to be confirmed) and the music from the Greg Francis Orchestra and Singers - Tony Benedict and Lynn Kennedy. The undoubted highlight of the evening will be Katya and Klaus who will perform to the audience showcasing their talent and flair with dancing throughout the evening. However, the stars of this glittering night will be the public as they step through the TV screen and onto the same dance floor to show how they can trip the light fantastic. With another Ball planned for winter this year, they become part of Liverpool�s Year of Health, Wellbeing and Innovation and the LEAP 2010 Year of Dance programme.

The magnificent Great Hall is one of Europe's finest neo-classical buildings and a perfect backdrop for the Spring Ball which attracts dance aficionados from all over the region and the UK. Television programmes such as �Strictly Come Dancing� have seen a massive increase in public interest in ballroom dancing and St. George's Hall anticipates another sell-out success. Ticket holders will show off their moves, style and glamour dancing the night away in sumptuous and grand surroundings, and becoming the strictly stars of the night. Early bookings will get the best table seats closest to the dance floor and the orchestra.
